Strategy

To successfully catch fish on the fly requires a strategy. Fly fishing is very similar to hunting in that there needs to be some sort of gameplan. With out a gameplan the catch rate will go down.

There are basically two methods of presenting a fly....with tension or without. Both techniques require a different approach. Execution of both methods requires the angler to consider angler position, specialty line manipulations/casts (via the air or on the water) and the terminal tackle being used. In essence utilizing these techniques is part of the floorplan for catching fish.

Although there are other factors involved, the core of your strategy is based on the aforementioned factors.
