YAKIMA, UPPER COLUMBIA & KLICKITAT REPORT – 10/22/17

Posted on

YAKIMA   The recent Atmospheric river increased the flows on the Yakima as it did on all rivers here in the Northwest.  The Yakima should be back in great shape shortly.  Fishing has been worthy.  The swing fishing has been good with the dry fly fishing and nymphing reasonable as well.

Bugs include… Midges, Baetis and the remaing October Caddis.  The overall insect game will diminish now until the Spring of 2018.

KLICKITAT   Consideraing the low counts,  our catching has been ok. Like a broken record,  we were able to entice fish with multiple lines including dry, light tips and heavy tips.  The dry line fishing has diminished over the last week or so due to the colder weather.  Of course this river is currently blown out due to the recent weather pattern.  Should be about 4+ days for this one to be back in shape.

UPPER COLUMBIA  We are done on the UC for the 17′ season.  We want to thank all the guests that joined us  in the Columbia highlands and at Black Bear Lodge.   There was some good fishing this year but was a bit unpredictable compared to 16′. Of Course and as always we are looking forward to the upcoming year.
